Elena Osty

Elena Osty is an artist passionate about Still Life, Landscape, Cityscape and Interiors. Her work is inspired by traditional representational style Masters and Impressionism. Her preferred mediums are oil and oil pastels and she almost always paints from life – be it still life setups in studio or ‘en plein air’ landscapes.

Originally from Russia, she left in the nineties, her path initially led her to Barcelona and later to San Francisco Bay Area where she lives and works now.

Since she was a child she used to love going to art museums with her mom and she was always fascinated with the miracle of images that felt so alive. She could stare at a painting for hours and loved browsing the art books she had at home.

Later as adult she started drawing on and off for years, until finally in 2023 she started painting and got instantaneously submerged into it.

This activity has now completely taken over her free time outside of day job in tech; she is always thinking of the painting she’s working on and possible subjects for the next painting. And what next class she is going to take to get better.

She has taken classes and workshops with Paul Foxton’s art school; live workshops with Tad Retz and Kimball Geisler through Carmel Visual Arts and Patrick Okrasinski’s school online, which have provided an invaluable learning experience.

She has also followed many videos/classes by multiple fabulous artists on Eric Rhoads’ PaintTube and carefully studied works by Old Masters and contemporary artists that inspire her.

She is happy to be on this incredible art journey and excited to share it with others.
